We’re moving up in the world!

It’s official. The serviced offices at UOE Hub in Hertford are now full! But don’t despair if you were hoping to join our thriving co-working space for Hertford-based entrepreneurs, we will soon be moving up in the world… to the second floor to be precise.

When we took over the lease for our Maidenhead Street building, it was with the intention of eventually using all three floors. Well, that time has come – sooner than we’d first anticipated – because we have so much interest in the Hub’s office space, there’s now a waiting list.

That is why we’re planning to start renovating the second floor at the beginning of the summer. It will be similar in design and feel to the first floor, so feel free to book a tour of the Hub and talk to us about how we can help you. We can build you an office for 1, 2, 3 or more. With any luck, as soon as the decorators leave the building, we can hand over your keys and you can start working straightaway! And if all you’re looking for is a dedicated desk with lockable drawers or access to a hot desk for yourself or any freelancers you’d like to work with, we’ll always have some available on the first floor. Just ask us about them.

Why the interest in co-working spaces?

Small business is booming. Government figures show that in 2017, there was a 4% rise in the overall number of UK businesses to 5.7 million, 96% of which are classified as micro-businesses, i.e. those with 0-9 members of staff.

Whilst the majority of micro-business owners recognise they need a professional workplace to operate from, they generally don’t have a large enough budget to rent and maintain their own stand-alone office. That’s why serviced offices are so popular, because you can get all the advantages of a professional working environment for a fixed monthly fee that is a lot cheaper and easier to manage than organising your own rent, utilities, WiFi, cleaning etc.

The additional advantage of co-working spaces is that you are surrounded by other entrepreneurs. This daily networking means there is always someone to talk to when you need advice or just a quick chat whilst you make a coffee. Indeed, many entrepreneurs end up collaborating on projects or hiring each other to undertake aspects of their work, increasing productivity and motivation alike!
